1. Introduction

Welcome to Outfix ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services (collectively, the "Service").

By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Why We Collect Data: Outfix is designed to help you dress better by understanding your wardrobe and style preferences. We collect and analyze your clothing data to provide personalized outfit recommendations, help you discover new combinations from items you already own, and save you time getting dressed. We only collect information necessary to provide these wardrobe management and outfit recommendation services.

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and name from the provider. We do not collect or store a password for the Outfix app.
• Style Profile: Gender preference, body type, face shape, skin undertone, fit preferences, favorite colors, colors or patterns to avoid, typical size, and budget range. Body type, face shape, and skin undertone can be set by you in Settings or inferred by our AI from photos you submit (e.g., outfit selfies) when you use those features.
• Clothing Data: Images of clothing items you upload and metadata about your clothing (type, color, material, etc.)
• Wardrobe Information: Items you add to your wardrobe, wishlist, ownership status, and preferences
• Outfit Data: Outfit combinations you create, share, like, or save
• Conversations: Text and images you send to the AI stylist (voice and chat) are stored so we can provide the service and conversation continuity.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Device Information: Device type and operating system; we use this for compatibility and support. We do not use unique device identifiers to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
• Usage Data: We do not use third-party analytics SDKs in the mobile app. Our servers may keep standard request logs (e.g., IP, timestamps) for security and operations; these are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
• Location Data: With your permission, we use your device’s coordinates to fetch local weather for outfit recommendations. We send coordinates to our backend and to a weather provider; we do not store your precise coordinates. We may store a city or region name (from reverse geocoding) as a fallback when location is unavailable. You can use the app without sharing location; we will use a default location for weather.
• Images: When you upload clothing or outfit images, we process them on our servers and with third-party AI (see Section 5) to extract metadata (clothing type, colors, body part) and, when you use those features, to infer style-related attributes (e.g., body type, face shape, skin undertone) for your profile.

2.3 Voice and Audio

• Voice input: When you use the voice stylist, your voice is sent to a third-party transcription service (OpenAI Whisper). We do not store the raw audio; the transcribed text is used by the AI stylist and may be stored in your conversation history.
• Voice output: We use a third-party service (OpenAI) to generate the stylist’s spoken replies. The generated audio may be stored temporarily on our infrastructure for playback.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to help you make the most of your wardrobe and dress better every day. Specifically, we use your data to:

• Automatic Organization: Categorize your clothing items by type, color, and body part so you can easily browse and find items in your digital wardrobe
• Personalized Recommendations: Generate outfit suggestions based on color harmony principles, style matching algorithms, your gender preferences, and current weather conditions
• Discovery & Creativity: Help you discover new outfit combinations from items you already own, maximizing your wardrobe potential and reducing decision fatigue
• Smart Shopping: Recommend marketplace items that complement your existing wardrobe and fill gaps in your style
• Wardrobe Insights: Analyze your wardrobe composition to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities (planned feature)
• Enable outfit sharing features so you can get feedback or inspire others
• Send you service-related communications
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

Our AI analysis improves your experience over time by learning your style preferences and providing increasingly accurate recommendations. All analysis is automated and designed to save you time while helping you look your best.

4. AI Processing of Your Images

When you upload clothing images, we use artificial intelligence (AI) models to automatically analyze and categorize your items, saving you the time and effort of manual tagging. Our AI performs the following:

• Background Removal: Creates clean, transparent images of your clothing items for better visualization
• Clothing Classification: Identifies the type of clothing (e.g., t-shirt, jeans, dress) from 47+ categories
• Body Part Detection: Determines which body part the item covers (e.g., upper body, lower body, feet) for accurate outfit pairing
• Color Extraction: Analyzes dominant colors using advanced color theory (K-means clustering in LCh color space) to enable color harmony-based recommendations
• Style Matching: Generates outfit recommendations by matching items based on complementary colors, appropriate layering, and style compatibility

These AI processes are performed securely on our servers. Your original images and processed versions are stored securely and are only accessible to you (unless you choose to share outfits publicly). The AI analysis enables features like automatic wardrobe organization, smart outfit suggestions, and style insights—all designed to help you dress better with less effort.

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

5.1 Public Sharing

If you choose to share an outfit publicly, the outfit combination and associated clothing images may be visible to other users through shareable links.

5.2 Marketplace Items

Our Service includes marketplace clothing items from brands and affiliates. These items are publicly visible to all users for outfit recommendations. Your personal wardrobe items remain private unless you explicitly share them.

5.3 Third-Party AI and Service Providers

We work with the following providers to deliver the Service. We share only the data necessary for each purpose. Each provider has its own privacy policy governing their use of data.

• Google (Gemini): We send your wardrobe data, images (including outfit selfies), and conversation to Google’s Gemini API to power outfit recommendations, clothing classification, style analysis, and the conversational stylist. Google Privacy Policy.
• OpenAI: (1) Whisper — we send your voice recordings to transcribe speech to text; we do not store the audio. (2) Text-to-speech — we send text to generate the stylist’s spoken responses. OpenAI Privacy Policy.
• OpenWeatherMap: We send your device’s coordinates (we do not store them) to fetch local weather for outfit suggestions. OpenWeatherMap Privacy Policy.
• Supabase: We use Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage. Your account data, wardrobe, images, and generated audio are stored on Supabase. Supabase Privacy Policy.

Background removal for clothing images is done with a local library (rembg) on our servers; your images do not leave our systems for that step.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the mobile app. We do not sell your personal information or use it to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

5.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

6. Amazon Associates Program Disclosure

Outfix participates in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

When you click on affiliate links to Amazon products within our Service, we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. This does not affect the price you pay for products on Amazon.

We only recommend products that we believe may be of interest to you based on your outfit preferences and wardrobe. Our recommendations are based on color harmony, style matching, and your personal preferences, not on affiliate commission potential.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and as necessary to provide our Service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy.

8.1 Image Storage

Clothing images you upload (both original and AI-processed versions) are stored indefinitely until you choose to delete them. We do not automatically delete your clothing data—you maintain full control over your wardrobe items. When you delete a clothing item from your wardrobe, both the original and processed images are permanently removed from our storage.

8.2 Account Deletion

If you delete your account, all associated data including clothing images, wardrobe items, outfits, and personal information will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Shared outfits that were publicly distributed via links will no longer be accessible after account deletion.

9. Your Rights and Data Control

You have full control over your data in Outfix. Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

• Access: View your style profile, wardrobe, outfits, and liked combinations in the app
• Correction: Edit clothing details, style profile (including body type, face shape, skin undertone), and preferences in Settings
• Deletion: Delete individual clothing items, or your entire account and all associated data
  • To delete a clothing item: Remove it from your wardrobe in the app
  • To delete your account and all data: Use Settings → Personal Info → Delete account, or contact us at joshua@outfix.ai
• Sharing Control: Choose which outfits to share via links; your wardrobe and profile stay private unless you share
• Data Export: Request a copy of your data in a portable format via Settings → Privacy & Security → Export My Data, or by emailing joshua@outfix.ai
• Withdraw Consent: Revoke location, microphone, or photo library access in your device settings

What we do not do: We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising or to track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not collect your contacts, calendar, or payment card details (in-app purchases use your device’s App Store account).

10. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

11. Future Features

We are continuously working to improve Outfix and help you dress better. Planned features may include:

• Wardrobe gap analysis to identify missing pieces in your style
• Personal style profile generation based on your preferences
• Seasonal rotation suggestions
• Enhanced outfit recommendation algorithms

We will notify you of significant new features that affect how we collect or use your data. Your continued use of the Service after new features are introduced constitutes acceptance of any updated data practices, or you may choose to opt out of specific features.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
